1965年生于湖北。华中科技大学学士，法国南锡大学硕士，巴黎第十一大学计算机科学博士（1990）。1998年加入微软研究院任首席研究员。发明了张氏相机标定法（1998），成为计算机视觉应用的通用标定方法，广泛用于自动驾驶、AR 等场景。IEEE Fellow、ACM Fellow。2018年加入腾讯任首席科学家，领导 Robotics X 实验室和犀牛鸟实验室。
Born 1965 in Hubei, China. BS from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, MS from University of Nancy (France), PhD in Computer Science from University of Paris XI (1990) under Olivier Faugeras. Joined Microsoft Research in 1998, becoming a Principal Researcher. Invented the Zhang camera calibration method (1998) -- universally known as 'Zhang's Method', used in virtually every computer vision application worldwide from autonomous vehicles to AR. Elected IEEE Fellow and ACM Fellow. Joined Tencent in 2018 as Chief Scientist, heading both the Robotics X Lab and the Futian Lab. Leads Tencent's research in computer vision, robotics, and embodied AI.
