Co-founder of Discovery Loop (August 2026), the public benefit corporation started by Jeff Dean to automate the scientific experimental loop with AI. Joined Google in 1999 from the DEC Systems Research Center and rose to Google Senior Fellow; with Dean he co-authored the systems that let Google scale -- MapReduce (2004), Bigtable (2006) and Spanner (2012) -- and the two were long regarded inside Google as a single engineering pair. BS from Cornell, PhD from MIT. Shared the 2012 ACM-Infosys Foundation Award with Dean.
