New Zealand-born AI researcher. Completed his PhD at IDSIA in Switzerland under Marcus Hutter. In his 2007 thesis, he formally defined and coined the term 'artificial general intelligence' (AGI), providing a mathematical framework for measuring machine intelligence. Co-founded DeepMind in 2010 with Demis Hassabis and Mustafa Suleyman. Now serves as Chief AGI Scientist at Google DeepMind, leading safety and AGI research.
