Co-founded Runway out of NYU Tisch ITP in 2018 with Cristobal Valenzuela and Alejandro Matamala Ortiz, when generative video was a research curiosity. Runway co-released Stable Diffusion 1.5 and then shipped Gen-1 through Gen-4.5, moving from clip generation toward what the company calls general world models — systems that simulate physics well enough to be useful for robotics and interface rendering, not only for film. Argues that scaling video models may be sufficient to learn physics, and that real-time generation is inevitable. Closed a $315M Series E led by General Atlantic with NVIDIA and AMD Ventures in February 2026, roughly doubling Runway to a $5.3B valuation.
