Born 1986 in India. Earned B.Tech in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (2002), then a PhD from the University of Southern California (2014) under advisors David Chiang and Liang Huang. Joined Google Brain in 2016 where he became the lead author of the landmark paper 'Attention Is All You Need' (2017), introducing the Transformer architecture that revolutionized all of AI -- from NLP to vision to protein folding. Later co-founded Adept AI, then departed to co-found Essential AI where he now serves as CEO.
