Led the work on Evo and Evo 2 during his Stanford PhD, genome language models trained on raw unlabeled DNA that made the covers of Science and Nature; outside scientists later used Evo to generate the first complete AI-designed genome, a bacteriophage harmless to humans. Launched Radical Numerics in June 2026 with $50M seed led by Emergence Capital, alongside Michael Poli, Stefano Massaroli and Armin Thomas — three of Liquid AI's founding team. The lab's bet is general biological intelligence: one model spanning DNA, RNA and proteins rather than separate specialist models.
